Reading papers

I looked at Mobile Robotics Manual and installed the software that came with the robot.

Next I read 3 papers and struggled with 2 of them.

  1. A Tutorial on Particle Filters for Online Nonlinear/Non-Gaussian Bayesian Tracking - M. Sanjeev, Sumin Maskell, 2002
  2. FastSLAM: A Factored Solution to the Simultaneous Localization and Mapping Problem - Michael Montemerlo, Sebastian Thrun
  3. Multi Robot Mapping using Force Field Simulation - Rolf Lakaemper

I am looking at the references for 1) and 2) to better understand the math. So far I found these websites to be useful reference as well.

I will keep adding them as I find more of them
Bellow is a list of preferred Journals and Conferences.

Getting started

I met with Dr. Rolf on Friday, 23 April 2010. We spoke about the 2 robots he bought.
  1. Pioneer AT3
    bumpers
    Schunk Powercube PW70
    SICK LMS200
    BumleBee Stereo Cam
    XSENS IMU
  2. Pioneer DX3
    8 sonars
    2 DoF Gripper
    LMS 100
    XSENS IMU
Also discussed different software packages
  1. CARMEN Repository - open sourxe C++ robotics
  2. Aria - comes with the robots
